Baby Photography Vancouver – When baby number two rolls around, there is a lot of worry about. I totally get it, your family is expanding from a family of three to a family of four, and while others think that this isn’t a big change – it definitely is. No matter how old your firstborn child is, introducing a younger sibling is difficult for every member of the family.
At the same time, it’s always great to have more love around. So, how should you manage the changes that come with having a second baby? Let’s discuss some helpful tips for having your second child!
- Discuss what is happening with your first child.
Even if your firstborn is pretty young, get into the habit of talking about what is going to happen in the future. These changes can still be understood by young children in simple terms, and it’s important to share with them so that they are informed as best as possible. These conversations tell your first child that it is safe to discuss any feelings that they have about the new baby coming.
- Try to reuse supplies and avoid repurchasing as much as possible.
A lot of people try to focus on providing the same experience for their second child as their first but this approach can be wasteful of resources and money. If it is safe to, reuse newborn items for your second child. At home, on a day-to-day basis, hand-me-downs for babies are a lower concern than everything else going on.
- Remember how you felt when you had your first child.
The chaos slows down over time! It can feel so overwhelming in the first few weeks and months. The new normal is not this early period. So, look forward to getting past survival mode and into your true new normal wth your two babies!
