North Vancouver Maternity & Newborn Photography

My private studio is in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver, at 1208 Frederick Rd. Families come from North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby and across the Lower Mainland. Please park in the driveway on the brick pad, as street parking is limited.

The session fee is $190 for maternity and $290 for newborn, plus tax. It covers your planning, your session, styling and use of all gowns, wraps and props. When you book maternity and newborn together during your pregnancy, the maternity session fee is complimentary. Images are selected and purchased separately after you view your gallery, and are not included in the session fee. Digital collections start at $720.

Yes, your baby’s safety always comes first. The studio is kept warm and cozy for little ones, and every prop and posing aid I use is made specifically for newborn photography. I’ve taken many workshops over the years, including training on how to pose newborns safely. The session always follows your baby’s cues, with breaks for feeding and cuddles whenever they need them.

Maternity sessions take 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on how many gowns you’d like to wear. Newborn sessions are led by your baby. An extra feed can take 30 minutes, and some babies need a little more time to settle, so please plan for around 3 hours. I also recommend keeping the rest of the day free, so you can relax and never feel rushed.

Please book during your pregnancy, ideally in your second trimester, as I only take a limited number of newborns each month. Once your baby arrives, please send me a quick message within a day or two, and we’ll set your session date. For classic, posed newborn portraits, the first 2 to 3 weeks are ideal, while babies are sleepy and curl up easily. Natural newborn sessions are a little more flexible, and from about 4 to 10 weeks, an Older Newborn session captures more eye contact and expression.

No problem at all, babies keep their own schedule. Your newborn session date is set once your baby has arrived. Please send me a quick message within a day or two after the birth, and we’ll find a date that suits your baby and the session style you’ve chosen.

Between 29 and 35 weeks. Your bump is beautifully round, and you’re usually still comfortable enough to enjoy the session.

Not at all. Babies from about 4 to 10 weeks photograph beautifully in an Older Newborn session, with more eye contact, little expressions and personality. You can read more in my post on the best time for newborn photos.

For your baby and your maternity gowns, no. You can choose from over 70 gowns in the studio collection, and for newborn sessions I provide all wraps, outfits and accessories for your baby, with setups planned around the colours you love. Partners and siblings bring their own outfits. For maternity, I’m happy to suggest what to wear once I know which gowns you’ve chosen, and for newborn family portraits, I’ll guide you on outfits before your session.

Soft, neutral colours like cream, white, beige and light grey look beautiful together and match the newborn setups. Simple, fitted clothing without logos or busy patterns works best, like a simple dress for moms and a plain shirt for dads. If you love a moodier look, black and dark grey on a dark backdrop are a beautiful option too.

Yes. Partners and siblings are welcome to join your maternity session for a few portraits together. Family portraits are also part of every newborn session. Siblings join at the end, so they don’t have to wait around during the newborn portion. If you prefer, we can also split it into two days, with the newborn portraits on one day and family portraits on another, at no extra cost.
