Congratulations! I am guessing since you are reading this post you are excepting a little baby girl or baby boy to join your family soon or you just had a newborn. I would love to chat with you and design your custom session. Together we will create a beautiful gallery with images you will cherish for a lifetime.
Before the newborn photo shoot
We will have a consultation over the phone, by email or over Zoom/Facebook, whatever your preference, to talk about your vision for the session.
During the newborn photo shoot
At the session I will typically start with the posed baby pictures and then move on to props. I am completely baby led, so your little newborn calls the shots. If he or she does not like a position we will move on to the next pose. So please keep an open mind as not every newborn likes every position, but don’t worry we will create an amazing gallery regardless. If you little one is not sleepy and maybe a little fussy due to a tummy ache or just because you are not holding him or her, wrapping baby usually helps or we can get some fun mug shots, which are also a parent favourite!
During the session, sit back and relax.
While I take care of baby you are welcome to relax in the sitting area of my studio, while watching me capture your little one. I won’t need much assistance, so take advantage of this time to rest in my sitting area (I’m sure you need it!). Parents will often watch a movie on their iPad, answer emails or read in my sitting area while I take care of your new little one. I’ve even have parents take advantage of this time and take a nap!I have plenty of snacks and drinks for you here at the studio ton enjoy during your session. We will take everything nice and slow and your baby will be the centre of attention.
Family Photos
Once I captured the posed and prop portraits of you newborn we will capture the family. I usually start with mom and baby, dad and baby and then all of you together. We will also capture some backlit images which are my favourite!
If there is a sibling, I ask that they only join the family portion of the session, as it is not much fun for them to wait around for a few hours. Usually dad or a family member/friend comes later and brings the sibling(s). After a quick getting to know the sibling, we will take some shots with the sibling and baby and then move into the rest of the family portraits.
After your newborn session
About 1-2 weeks after I will get in contact and we will schedule your gallery reveal. My favourite part! I love watching my parents seeing their gorgeous images for the first time! We can either do this in person or over Zoom. This is when you select your favourites and decide on the products and digitals.
Depending on the products you choose they will be ready in about two weeks to be proudly displayed in your home!
